Luis Martínez Crespo was born in Felanitx (Balearic Islands, Spain) in December 5th, 1985. He graduated with a BSc in Chemistry in June 2009 from the University of Balearic Islands (UIB). In November 2009, he received a pre-doctoral fellowship (FPI) to work with Prof. A. Costa and Dr. C. Rotger at UIB, and he obtained his Master’s degree in March 2011 and his PhD in December 2015, both from UIB. During his PhD he was studying the conformational properties of squaramide-based foldable modules and their application in the development of peptidomimetic compounds. From February 2017 to January 2019 he worked as a post-doctoral researcher with Prof. P. Ballester in the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), where he studied aryl-extended calix[4]pyrroles as transmembrane transporters in cell membrane models (liposomes). In February 2019 he started his current position at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), as a post-doctoral researcher under the supervision of Dr. H. Valkenier (EMNS group). At ULB, he continues his work in transmembrane transport by using dynamic covalent chemistry to develop new artificial transporters.
